Weekends Were Made For Fun

The weekend is almost over?!!! Every Sunday night I wish it was Friday all over again. I get three day weekends but I still wish that it was longer. I feel like singing....

"Lookout weekend cause, here I come

"Because weekends were, made for fun"

I love this song.

Weekend Recap:

Friday night we went on a double date with my sister and her boyfriend. We went to Zinburger for dinner then Craig and I went to the drive in movies. We watched "Hot Tub Time Machine" and " She's out of my league."

Saturday morning Craig and I went for a run then I watched movies most of the day. Saturday night we went on a second double date with my other sister and her friend. We went to dinner and then went to play Laser tag. I won 2nd place. It was so much fun and a great workout. We were all pretty tired and sweaty by the time we got done.

Sunday morning Craig, Vero and I went on a hike. It was my sister's first time hiking Camelback and I was really excited for her. This hike is a bit more challenging then the hikes we have taken her to before. When Craig mentioned taking her on that trail I was a little hesitant. But she proved me wrong and we made it to the top. She did a great job and I was so proud of her.
Craig and Vero about to start the hike. We did Cholla Trail on Camelback Mountain which is 1.5 miles long.

The elevation gain is 1,200 feet.
"This trail is recommended only for experienced hikers. There are steep, rocky sections with drop-offs on both sides."

After our hike Craig and I went to the Game and Fish expo. We went last year and had so much fun. They have a lot of outdoor activities...including fishing, shooting and 4 wheeling. They also have a lot of wildlife and great information for people that do a lot of outdoor activities.

We love to go 4 wheeling so this was right up our alley. We watched a Jeep, Bronco and Scout rock crawl.

This was last year. I am super scared of snakes and it was HUGE for me to have it on me. I wanted to face my fears. I also called this my "Britney Spears" moment. LOL.

Maybe not quite a Britney moment since her snake was huge. But still a big moment for me. =)

Hope you all had an eventful weekend. Back to work tomorrow. Gotta keep on truckin'

Question: What fear do you have and have you ever faced it?

Meet Boxie!!!

Monday workout: 50 minutes (gym) elliptical and crunches
Tuesday workout: 3 mile run

This week has been completely opposite from last week. I still feel a little tired but I also feel motivated again. I was a little scared that I was losing that feeling of WANT. That was part of my stress last week. I am so glad that it's back because I love feeling this way. We started going back to the gym last Thursday and I felt awesome when I was there. We decided to just mix our workouts up. We will still do P90X when we feel like working out at home and go to the gym, hike or run when we feel like it too. I want to enjoy working out and not have it be a chore. This way works best for me and I'm glad that I have both available to me.

Craig and I went on a 3 mile run today. Towards the end I ran the fastest I could. It hurt so bad but sometimes I want to hurt. =) After running we made ground chicken tacos with black beans for dinner. We are now watching Biggest Loser. I kind of want Stephanie or Daris to win the Challenge. We'll see what happens.

Weekend Recap:

Saturday night Craig and I babysat my 3 year old neice. We took her to Chuck E. Cheese and then came home to watch Toy Story. We played a lot of games and she even won a few prizes.

My neice really likes Craig. She sometimes gives him attitude which is funny to me.

Sunday morning we went on a new hiking trail.
"Pinnacle Peak is a moderate hike with an elevation gain of approximately 1,300 feet. The trail has a very smooth tread with a number of ups and downs over the course of the 1.75 mile trail (one way). It is not a loop trail so you come back over the same trail. High point on the trail is 2,889', the lowest point is 2,366', and the elevation at the trailhead is 2,570'. "

After hiking we went "shopping" for a new car. I have been looking around online for a few months and finally decided on......

A 2010 Scion Xb. I LOVE it!!! Her name is Boxie.

I was a bit sad to say bye to.....

Featsie will be missed.

I am pooped. I hope I can finish Biggest Loser.... Have a great night bloggies!!

Date Night

Yesterday I took a "me" day. I watched movies and rested most of the day. I really needed it. Lately I have been feeling stressed. It's little things that usually wouldn't get to me. I came home early from work on Thursday because I wasn't feeling well. Craig was also off from work that day and took care of me. I feel like my body is fighting something. I'm feeling a lot better now though.

Yesterday we decided to go to Zoe's Kitchen for dinner.

It was close to our next destination....Biltmore Fashion Square Mall. We went to watch a movie at the park...... Ferris Bueller's Day Off. They have a free movie every Friday at the park and a lot of people go. It was pretty cool. When we got there we still had some time before the movie started so we decided to get some Froyo.

It was a nice night. The weather was PERFECT. We got to enjoy our evening under the stars and enjoy a classic. I had watched parts of the movie before but I don't remember ever watching the full movie.

I also discovered that they have complimentary 60 minute yoga and fitness classes on Sundays at the park. They have a Lululemon Athletica at the mall and have someone from the store teach the class. =)

Saturday

This morning we went to pick up my Bountiful Basket......

Today I'm going to my parents house then going shopping with a friend. Her babyshower is in 2 weeks and she wants something super cute. =) Tonight Craig and I are watching my neice and taking her to Chuck E. Cheese then coming home to watch Toy Story. Fun night. Tomorrow morning we have a hike planned a possibly a picnic.

Have a great weekend!!

Question: What's your favorite classic movie?

Thinking about throwing in the towel

Happy St. Patrick's Day!!!

I hope your week is going great!

This is my first week back to my regular workouts. The week before the half marathon I decided to rest my legs and I just ran 3 times that week. Last week I ran, went hiking and worked out at home on Saturday. My plan was to get back into P90X. I was super excited for it and I couldn't wait to get started. Now I'm thinking about "throwing in the towel." I'm going to give it the rest of the week to see if I change my mind but I just feel like I don't give it my all when I work out at home. It's different when I meet Craig at the gym and we workout together. We help eachother stay motivated and it's fun. We talk about our day and I really feel like I get a good workout. I can also take different classes. I know that P90X works because I sweat a lot and I can feel it working out every part of my body. I just feel like it's so boring. I wish that they offered P90X classes at the gym or something. I'm not sure what I'm doing yet and I don't want to quit. It's been a very long time since I quit something and I don't want this to be it.

Question: Have you ever felt this way about a specific workout?

I don't want to end on a crappyish (probably not a word) note so I'll share our hiking pictures from Sunday.

Camelback Hike    source

Difficulty: 3.5
Distance Round Trip 2.5 miles
Trailhead Elevation 1400 feet
Elevation Gain 1300 feet
Avg Time Round Trip 1.5 - 2 hour

We had so much fun hiking one of our favorite trails. Parking is very limited and we were so excited when we found a spot open. We had to walk about a mile before getting to the trail but it was a nice warm up. The weather was perfect for the hike and a lot of people were out on Sunday. As I was hiking up the mountain I started thinking to myself.. Why do we do this? This is so dangerous. I can slip and fall at any moment. There are times when I look over the side of a mountain and just imagine myself falling over and it freaks me out. I keep going though because I love it. I love that little scared feeling I get and reaching the top. I'm glad that I get to enjoy something that I love doing with the person I love.

Discovering A New Healthy Restaurant

Good afternoon bloggies! How is your weekend going?

My weekend has been pretty awesome so far. Friday Craig surprised me with a new healthy restaurant he found online. I was really excited because I love trying new places and DISCOVERING new healthy restaurants.

"True Food Kitchen celebrates the simple, pure flavors of quality local and regional ingredients with a menu that tastes great while nourishing your mind, body and spirit."

"At True Food Kitchen, we believe simple, fresh, pure ingredients create the most satisfying and memorable dining experiences. While our menu is packed with nutritious, good-for-you vegetables, whole grains, and proteins, we never sacrifice flavor. You may not notice the difference, but it’s there."

Everything on the menu sounded so good. I wanted everything but I went with this........

I got Teriyaki Brown Rice, Asian Vegetables, Sesame & Avocado with Shrimp.

Craig got the Chicken Sausage, Tomato, Fennel & Fontina Cheese Pizza
W/Organic Flour, Spelt & Flax Seed

We both loved it and plan on going back soon. I'm glad that we tried something new because this time it really paid off.

The rest of the weekend has been great. I helped my mom with a cake yesterday, we went hiking this morning, we played Wii and plan on watching Pulp Fiction later. I have pictures and a hiking post saved for tomorrow. I still want to share with you the rest of the half marathon pictures.

Last of the half marathon pictures:

We wore our marathon shirts to dinner and people were wishing us luck. We got a lot of attention. =)

We made sure to eat something before leaving, helped my sister with her KT tape and helped eachother with our numbers.

We didn't have much time to stretch but made sure to do it. We didn't want any injuries.

Then we were off.....

13 miles later....

Best part of the whole run was when we were turning a corner and saw the finish line. My sister turned around and looked at me with the biggest smile on her face. I will NEVER forget that moment. We had FINISHED a half marathon TOGETHER.

We had an amazing time and I hope that we run many more together.

That is it for the El Paso Half Marathon pictures. I had so many that I wanted to share with you. =)
